ABOUT US

NOLA Contemporary Ballet is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization on the Northshore of Louisiana. The first and only professional dance company in the area, NOLA Contemporary Ballet was established in 2020 by Tianna Pourciau Sykes, who recognized a need for live, innovative, professional dance in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.

The company is dedicated to building new audiences, training and supporting the next generation of artists and presenting works that tell the stories of the rich and diverse history of Louisiana. From original works to re-imagined dance classics, the company presents a dynamic array of cross-disciplinary dance productions each season, bringing world-class performances to the Northshore, the metro-New Orleans area and beyond.

Our mission is to engage, educate, and inspire members of the community through world-class dance theater productions that embody and preserve Louisiana’s rich culture and unique history.

NOLA Contemporary Ballet aspires to create a world-class form of dance theatre that exists across mediums—from the stage to the gallery and to the screen. Forging new cross-disciplinary collaborations with literary and visual artists, symphony and chamber orchestras, vocalists and musicians, actors and composers from our Southern home and across the world, NOLA Contemporary Ballet will build a long and rich history in the art of dance, as cultural ambassadors of Louisiana.NOLA Contemporary Ballet aspires to create a world-class form of dance theatre that exists across mediums—from the stage to the gallery to the computer screen. Through professional tours and the creation of new works commissioned from local and world-renowned artists alike, NOLA Contemporary Ballet will build a long and rich history in the art of dance, as cultural ambassadors of Louisiana.
