Kicking off the season is a mixed rep show featuring world premieres and excerpts from an array of dance works in NOLA Contemporary Ballet’s repertory. NOLA-bred and inspired artists lead Louisiana-flavored, creative collaborations and the extraordinary NOLA CB dancers evoke the spirit of Louisiana in this first program of the season. Featuring dance works Ghosts of the Past, Suite Orleans, Requiem and a sneak peek excerpt from the upcoming production, Native Swamp.

A new twist on a timeless holiday classic...experience the magic of Nutcracker Twist! Nutcracker Twist is a theatrical dance work and modern adaptation of the timeless classical ballet. The Nutcracker. Written, directed and choreographed by artistic director, Tianna Pourciau Sykes, this old tale is brought to life with a modern twist, taking us into the holiday season with Clara as she embarks on a magical, musical journey to other lands.

Native Swamp explores our nature's landscapes through the powerful vehicle of dance. Through a true multimedia dance experience (dance, soundscape, and photographic imagery), NOLA Contemporary Ballet will explore the depths of the swamp and the rich landscape that holds an integral part of Louisiana’s history. The Louisiana swamplands have always been filled with unique ecosystems, extraordinary societies, habitats, wildlife and folklore. For centuries, native tribes, immigrants and ancient creatures have coexisted within the vast wetlands and habitats of Louisiana. Through this series of choreographic works we explore the rich terrains and waters, the creatures that live within them, the spirits that float above them, and the people who move through them.
