Developing Young Local Dancers and Performers…
The NOLA Contemporary Ballet Youth Company program is designed to help develop the local area’s next generation of professional dancers, as well as provide a formal track into NOLA Contemporary Ballet’s professional company. Our program provides talented young dancers with the knowledge and performance experience needed to pursue a viable professional career and/or higher education.
NOLA Contemporary Ballet Youth Company participants also serve as pre-professional apprentices within NOLA Contemporary Ballet’s professional company. Students are accepted into the program by special invitation or audition only.
NOLA Contemporary Ballet Youth Company
NOLA Contemporary Ballet Youth Company, a performance-based, pre-professional program for dancers typically ages 12-19, provides the opportunity for exceptionally talented and dedicated young dancers to gain experience rehearsing and performing with a professional company while continuing in high school or college.
Youth Company dancers perform throughout the year: in NOLA Contemporary Ballet's main stage productions, at outreach events, festivals, workshops and other events across the metro New Orleans area and beyond. In addition to performance opportunities, the program experience will include company classes, rehearsals, coaching and young artist development, technique class, wellness counseling, college and career counseling and training, as well as other classes, appearances and events.
The NOLA Contemporary Ballet Youth Company season runs throughout the year, with opportunities to train and perform extensively during the summer. This program is tuition-free. Performance stipends are awarded to qualified dancers based on merit.
Giving Youth Performance Opportunities…
The Youth Company’s annual performance season includes two full length productions. The Winter Concert series, performed in collaboration with the NOLA Contemporary Ballet professional company, includes seasonal classics such as Joyeaux Noel, Winter's Bloom, Babes in Toyland and Nutcracker Twist.
In the spring, the Youth Company performs along side NOLA Contemporary Ballet’s professional dancers in a large-scale production including classical and contemporary dances and repertory from a variety of choreographers.
NOLA Contemporary Ballet offers serious dance students the opportunity to audition for professional trainee and apprentice positions with NOLA Contemporary Ballet’s professional company.
